Learning Jiangan
To learn most
exercises systems, students must be shown by an instructor. This
is especially true of arts such as Tai Chi, Yoga and most Qigong
routines.
Jiangan is
different. It mainly involves straightforward liner movement and
clear points of action so that the intervention of an instructor
to demonstrate is usually unnecessary. Moreover, there are
currently very few Jiangan instructors so most students will
find it more convenient to learn from written instructions.
Either of the two
books published on the subject will serve as instruction
manuals. "Chinese Wand Exercises",
being out of print, is likely to be expensive and difficult to
find but “Jiangan – The Chinese
Health Wand” is available. Students in the UK can even
order a copy from their local library.
Workshops, Classes & Demonstrations
Some students do require a few lessons or workshops to get them started. For details of workshops and classes in the UK please enquire via our contact page. Wands will be provided.
The Wand or Pole
There is no need to find bamboo to learn; beginners can easily learn with a piece of wooden dowel or broom handle so very little cost need be involved (see Wand).
